I have the 45's, "I Love Country Music" written by Barlow, Speck, Stewart and produced by Buddy Killen, also "Number One In The Nation" written by Barlow, Speck and produced by Buddy Killen also "I Love Her Still" written by Coulter, Speck, Barlow and produced by Buddy Killen. Also here is part of a paragraph out of a book called "Grassroots Music In The Upper Cumberland" written by William Lynwood Montell. It reads, Radio broadcasting went hand in hand with Speck's love of music and songwriting, which he also began doing at an early age. In 1957, he recorded three rockabilly songs that became hits regionally. In 1964, he cowrote "I Love Country Music but I'd Rather Fight Than Switch," which was a toptwenty hit for Jack Barlow on the Dial Record label, now Atlantic Records. Barlow also recorded other songs cowritten by Speck, including "I Love Her Still" and "Number One In The Nation." Jack Barlow already had songs making a good showing such as "Walk With Me Baby" which was listed in Country and Western in the December 19th 1960 issue of Billboard Magazine. Also in the December 14, 1963 issue of Billboard Magazine talks about his new song "All I Need Is You", and in the December 19, 1964 issue of Billboard Magazine shows the song "49/51" that he recorded. He was in Billboard Magazine from the fifties to the eighties. After Jack Barlow got out of the Navy in 1946 he was part of an award winning barbershop quartet led by Max Collins Sr. Then he was spotted by George Volger, owner of Muscatine radio station KWPC and got his first radio gig, and his career went from there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
