The Nannie Koger Tree

In genealogist John O'Hart's "Irish Pedigrees," he presents the legendary origins of the Irish people from Adam and Eve through the kings of ancient Ireland from Scythia, Getulia, Galicia, Dal Riata, Capacyront and Crete. Much of his work is included here. Then, from those ancient lands, The Nannie Koger Tree evolves to areas such as early Caledonia (Scotland), France and England, and then to America, where you will discover the first immigrants who crossed over to become pioneers or early settlers in a new world from aristocrats to soldiers to farmers, and even a few U.S. Presidents. In all, 118 kings are part of The Nannie Koger Tree. You will also find numerous counts and countesses, princes, gentlemen, nobles, druids, scholars, explorers and warriors. They were Scythians, Caledonians, Goths, Scots, Irish, English, Cretes, Gadelians and Gaetulians.

Nannie Koger Boles was my great-grandmother. I call this The Nanny Koger Tree because she always said her family tree had lots of royalty in it. I doubt she knew exactly how much. She would be so proud.

"In memory of Nannie Koger Boles."

But, Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. God directed him to build an ark and in the six hundredth year of Noah's life, the bible says the fountains of the great deep were broken up and the windows of heaven were opened and rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. The waters prevailed upon the earth for 150 days and remained for a year, after which the Bible says "God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth." In Biblical tradition, Japheth is considered to be the progenitor of European, and some Asian, peoples. In medieval Europe, various nations and ethnicities were given genealogies tracing back to Japheth and his descendants.

Scythia was a region of Central Eurasia in classical antiquity, occupied by the Eastern Iranian Scythians, encompassing parts of Eastern Europe east of the Vistula River and Central Asia, with the eastern edges of the region vaguely defined by the Greeks. The Ancient Greeks gave the name Scythia to all the lands north-east of Europe and the northern coast of the Black Sea. Scythia included portions of Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Balkans, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. After Aaron had told him their story, Niul said whatever means he had would be at their service. Then, a serpent came upon Gaedheal and bit him in the neck. Niul took him to Moses, who prayed to God and applied the rod he held in his hand to the wound, and thus healed it. Moses also said that in what place soever the stock of that youth would settle, there no serpent would ever have venom. Moses then fastened with a lock around the neck of Gaedheal, the bracelet that he had on his own arm, and from that time he was called Gaedheal Glas. Irish history says Moses allowed Niul to witness the opening of the sea before the children of Israel and the drowning of the Pharaoh and his army. The Dal Riata, the people from which the Scottish kings are descended, were originally settled on the north east coast of Ireland. Perhaps as early as the third century, and no later than the fifth century, they began to settle on the west coast of what is now Scotland. It is in the late fifth century that the names in the genealogy begin to take on some historical credibility. In any case, the ruling dynasty of the Dal Riata had established itself in the area corresponding to modern Argyll by the late fifth century.

Matilda married Heinrich V, Holy Roman Emperor, on 7 January 1114. She married Geoffrey V Plantagenet on 22 May 1128. She was given the name of Edith at birth. As a result of her marriage, Matilda 'the Empress' of England was styled as Empress Matilda. She was nominated by her father as his successor. However, on the death of Henry I, the council considering a woman unfit to rule offered the throne to Stephen. Matilda invaded England and fought to take the rule from Stephen. She won much of the west, and after Stephen's capture in April 1141 a clerical council proclaimed Matilda 'Lady of the English'. She entered London but made cash demands that provoked Londoners to expel her before a coronation. Although Matilda failed to secure the English throne, she laid a basis for successful claims by descendants of her second husband, Geoffrey of Anjou.

France, Scotland, Flanders and Boulogne allied themselves with the rebels. The Great Revolt was defeated. A second revolt in 1183 resulted in Young Henry's death. The Norman invasion of Ireland provided lands for his youngest son, John, but Henry struggled to find ways to satisfy all his sons' desires for land and immediate power.
